Typography in Tonbridge High Street

On Friday 23rd September as a class we took a walk through Tonbridge High Street from West Kent College to St Peter & St Paul’s Church in order to photograph as many interesting uses of typography in streets. There were a variety of different type styles used, such as Serif, Sans Serif, Graffiti etc.

The objective of this walk was to prepare us for our trip to Bexhill on the following Friday whereby we will be taking photos of typography in the coastal town in order to tackle our first brief – ‘Type Tour Poster’. Typography is all around us and we are becoming more and more desensitised to it, therefore the idea of this exercise was to make us all aware of the type that is present in our day to day lives.

Below are some of the photographs that I took on our walk through the high street of some different styles of typography I found – you can click on the images to enlarge them.
